this past week iv noticed that my snake has been moving around alot more and trying to escape. why is it doing this?

They are just like people, they get restless sometimes.
For gravid female it can be a sign of impending birth.
A change in weather can also trigger this kind of activity.
Many different reasons for this kind of thing.

could it be because of a rain storm or not?

Yes it could. My snakes seem more active with a change in the weather or seasons.

if it is gravid and is doing this about how long will it be before it gives birth?

Well, if the snake were a male, I'd say it might be looking for a mate :D Houdini starts that every spring/summer and it goes on for several weeks before he calms down.

Maybe he's going to shed? I don't know about snakes, but I know my Blue Tongued Skink would go crazy before she shed. I didn't notice that behavior from my snake though....

If they haven't mated though, I think the urge might still be there? Even now, if I put Houdini and Harley together he immediately starts trying to court her (he's been by himself for over a decade; he's probably very frustrated).
