Checkout this son of Nova. He shed last night and when he stuck his nose out of the hide I was taken back.
He is simply stunning and will be paired up with an equally stunning female in the next couple of seasons.

Amazing! I see no reason to leave the love of radix any time soon. Steve's reds and the B/W's are two examples that spring to mind.

Sorry, did I expire her ahead of her time... I must have mixed up your big red girls - fortunately (for you and her) that's an easy mistake to make.

I think you're right, I tend to mix up names that have the same number of letters, so Boom/Nova would be a typical mistake for me.

Simply gorgeous! I just love those red radixes. Of course, now I am also biased to radixes...lol. I still love my easterns...but radixes are so wonderful too. Sadie is such a sweet girl and Sammy has the most beautiful coloring!

This male just keeps getting brighter and brighter. He shed tonight so I thought I would post an updated photo.
His guy will hopefully be a breeder in about 1 year.
Great looking red radix.

Amazing. What did he look like at birth? I'm trying to guess how mine are going to color up... two are already a bit orange but the other has no hint of red at all.

He looked like a normal colored baby scrub. With each shed he gets more red. He does his mother proud.

Cheers Steve. Does it have any advantages over normal aspen shavings? I would imagine the risk of ingestion is less?
Ps I love the curious look your getting in the corner of that photo

I think it does as it is in a ground up state and then formed into pellets. When they get wet they simply fall apart into saw dust like material.
With that being said I did lose a snake to this product. The snake swallowed a pellet made from what I think was a knot in the wood. It didn't fall apart like the other pellets and the snake died from the blockage.
From that tragedy I learned that the dark shinny pellets are the dangerous ones. I see very little of them in the product.

It's been 8 months since I updated this thread.
While in the snake room this morning I was blinded by an intense red light coming from one of the enclosures. I quickly grabbed a pair of sun glasses and looked in. There I saw this male just finishing a shed. I rushed him outside and grabbed a couple of shots.
I have to say that the is the most intense red I have ever seen on a radix.
♫This male is on fire♫
I think I will see if he's ready (no pun intended) to meet a couple red females.
The canon capture true colors.

I've seen many a red radix before but nothing as red as him and he completely blows away any red male I've seen. He does his mom(Nova-R.I.P.) proud.
I can't wait to see the babies he will help create someday.
