Milksnake maybe? Almost stepped on it in the yard (upstate NY) today. Not the typical snake that usually slithers around my yard. Thanks...

Looks like an eastern milk snake, Lampropeltis triangulum triangulum.

I would say milk snake also. Harmless and great to have around. Rodent eating machines.

Are we sure it isn't a black rat snake? That looks like the black rat snakes around here.

Nevermind...you guys are correct...patterning looks more like a milk than a rat snake. My mistake.

That's definitely not a corn snake. They look quite different.
