Today I picked up a much needed supply of substrate. The kids help me unload it and get it into the basement.
Then started the task of changing the substrate in a few of the enclosures that needed it the most.
First up was the T.s.concinnus(red-spotted garter snake) paddock. I directed all the snakes to the right hand side of the enclosure while I cleaned the left and then reversed those instructions. All the snakes where cooperative.
I did notice while the worked commenced I received many strange looks from the inhabitants. Most of the looks were like "Get the hell out of here" "What the hell is he doing" "Somebody stop him" "We don't have to put up with this kind of treatment" "Jerk" and so on.:D
I tried explaining to them that this was for their own good and that they would thank me when it was all done.
I even upgraded them to a large pool/water dish.
Once I was done I sat back and watched them.
They were quick to investigate the smell of the clean substrate and then proceeded to crap all over it.
The little jerks.
I guess they were adding their own special touches to their home.

Must have smelt wrong. The most surprising thing about your post is that they didn't christen the new pool.

The pool remains in pristine condition Chris and the thugs are all resting under the hide.
Sorry for the bad photo of them. The flash washed out their beautiful coloring.
I'm excited for this group as breeding will hopefully commence next Spring.

Pigs, gluttons, savages, assassins. Now, don't get me wrong, I love them but when food is involved they go crazy.
If one of them takes a piece of food and tries to get away they will be grabbed mid-body and held there.
They also think hands and fingers are food.
It is a fun time feeding these monsters.
I really am glad they are here and look forward to the future breeding I have planned.

I loved my little concinnus. They were piggies, but Ember, at least, was a well mannered and sweet little pig.
