I for one need all the help I can get when it comes to spotting my albinos in opaque(shedding) phase.
I noticed today that my W/C male T.radix was off color and I could also see a difference in his eyes.
Usually I never know they are going to shed until they do.
Those of you with albinos, lets try to upload some photos of these special snakes in opaque phase.
This photo was taken when he was swallowing a nice pinky.

I can never tell when Adira is going to shed either. I end up seeing her shed and having to peel her tail off.

Heīs a very shy guy and shed two days ago, so itīll last until heīll shed again.

The only thing that I have ever thought I noticed with Hermes...my albino checkered, is that his pupils look smaller before a shed and his face looks crackly. On Possum, my snow, I can see folds in his skin when he is about to shed. If I can try to catch them before their next shed...I'll post pics. I couldn't see any noticeable difference in Little Joe, my albino parietalis, at all. He just hides more.

Curious: What is the difference between snows and albinos?

A snow is an albino mixed with an... Anery... I think. I'm pretty sure albinos are usually yellow, snows are pink with no pattern, as fa as I can tell.

Curious: What is the difference between snows and albinos?
Snows are double homozygous for Albino and anery or axanthic, or in the case of snow easterns, albino and melanistic.
Albino takes away the dark colors but leaves red, yellow, etc alone. The anery or axanthic gene takes away the red/yellows and leaves you with a snake that has no pigment/pattern. It's two mutations in one snake.
If that albino red sided pictured above, was also anery, the snake would be totally "snow" white.
Snows don't occur in nature, but albinos and anery's do. Combine the two in captivity and you get a "snow"

I finally caught my albino red sided (Roger) in opaque phase...i think :). This will only be the second time he has shed since I got him. His face seems to get really white.

Snows are double homozygous for Albino and anery or axanthic, or in the case of snow easterns, albino and melanistic.
Is that correct? I thought albinos were amelanistic and melanistic was the opposite, with a more than normal amount of black pigment. I'm probably just reading it wrong, or does the melanistic mutation pretty much colour the whole snake black and the amelanistic then removes the black pigment? I'm pretty rubbish with genetics but this got me interested :)
