Puget Sound Garter Rarity?

I've been seeing (or I should say.. catching..) a good amount of puget sound garters. I have seen several times in posts that they are uncommon or maybe even hard to find. How rare are they, exactly? I'm just wondering since I can pretty much find them anytime.. (Others cannot?) :)

(Don't worry, as I have said before, 9 out of 10 are let go. I usually just bring them home. Take some pictures. Look at them for a bit. Let them go. Although, there is that moment every once and a while where a snake I find is too nice to automatically let it go. It has to be offered food frequently, for a couple of days to a week or so depending on if the snake can afford to lose a little weight.)

I for one would like to see some of those pics you take:D. I can't talk to how uncommon anything really is, I think if you have the means to purchase pugets breeders have them. You just have the advantage to walk around where you call home and see them like that. Like I get to walk outside and see radix everyday when some on here can't. But not really uncommon. Pics though for us that aren't as lucky....:rolleyes:.

Well, I can't really get pictures or videos on here at the moment.. (A 'problem' with this computer.....)

Thanks for the reply. I can see snakes whenever I want. I live nearby a very large amount of them. :D

Pugets are localized to the northwest, so others that don't live here as we do, don't get to see them in the wild.

how many times have you seen captive bred ones? captive bred ones are "rare" cuz you dont see it to often or by to many people.has nothing to do with how common they are in the wild cuz they are protected from commercial collecting.

Nevermind, then. I guess I was not looking at this the right way. I wouldn't really know about captive breds because the only person's house that I've been in that has snakes is my own. I haven't bred them so.... Yeah.. I wouldn't know.

Since you have been kind enough to give me this information, I guess that is all I needed to know about this.

Blue ones are more rare. They're only in a certain, very small, part of Washington.

I could point to at least 2 or 3 breeders in Europe that produce blue-phase pickeringii most years (and one that also has orange-phase as well) so they aren't the most difficult garters to get hold of on our side of the pond. I was thinking about a blue pickeringii, they are on the list, so I'll get some eventually...
