I've noticed that while Thamnophis Sirtalis Sirtalis is supposed to be the most common Garter snake there is, that might not be true on this board. Thus, I'm going to tell you about my Eastern Garter.

Back in July I bought a 2 week old neonate from a kid who got more than he bargained for when he bought a garter at his local pet store, and it dropped baby garters a week later. I'd been having troubles finding any garters locally, so I figured I just pick one up. Now, after several months and a few sheds, a beautiful blue color is starting to emerge, more brilliant with each shed. I've been considering keeping this little one around and trying to breed it for the lovely blue. Almost no green on this snake at all.

I had the snake in a 2 1/2 gallon tank until it grew a little bigger, but it was able to get out, and was missing for 6 days until we found it. It now has it's own 10 gallon tank in my son's room and no chance of getting out of that.

Have just bought a blue sided (bright blue) from Hamm (amongst others!!) very dark now, but I am promised it will brighten with age!
