While out shopping tonight I was driving by the entrance to our local super Walmart. When I stopped to let the pedestrians go in and out of the building I recognized a guy leaving. He works at the local pet shop I deal with. I gave a honk to my horn and he turned to see who the jerk was honking at him. He recognized me and give me an indication he wanted to talk to me. I pulled out of the way so we could talk. Once at my vehicle he asked if I had any business cards on me. As he took it he said "I saw an albino garter snake in my yard but didn't catch it because I didn't have your number" My jaw dropped and instructed him to go home and find it :D He said he'd see what he can do.
I hope to get a call soon and add another albino to the Ranch. Probably a Iowa (T-) T.radix (Plains Garter Snake)

Seems to be a good little population of albinos in your neck of the woods :)

No kidding Chris! Thats how I feel about this guy down the street, of course he had no idea anyone on his street cared about albino snakes until yesterday. My fingers are crossed for you Steve. Any chance Mark would want to come over and give me a hand looking around here? I should call him. Although I think going out and herping the woods or a field may be a little different then herping my neighbors..., knocking at every door first, "excuse me, do you mind if we search your yard for snakes:D". Hope the guy calls!

Maybe you could go over to his house and help him look. I found my first eastern of the year...a dead young one in my yard...looks like a mower got it. I was so angry...I was just livid! I need to get out and see if there are more...if there was one...there are probably more and a mother somewhere. I need to find them before a mower gets to them too. I'm going to end up with as many snakes as you have Steve!:D

I guess it depends on if my mother likes snakes sleeping on her head....I'm going to run out of room if I take too many more in! Ehhh....my family members don't really need bedrooms! They can sleep in the living room so that I can have a few reptile rooms!:D

Finally got a hold of the guy this afternoon. He said he's been looking while doing the yard work but hasn't seen it.
At least I know he's still on the hunt.

You should offer to go have a look. With your luck Steve it will crawl right up to you in his driveway.
