I'm new to the forum and loving all of the information you guys have to share. I'm hoping to be getting my first garter in the coming weeks!
Thanks in advance for all the helpful advice and tricks of the trade!

The care sheet is a good place to start.
Here's a link.

Welcome to the forum! Your set up is looking very nice...you will want to move that water dish to one side of the enclosure and make that your cool side. The other side will be the warm side which you will heat with a lamp or heat mat. The caresheet will explain more. If you have any other questions, we are here to help. Look forward to getting to know you.

You'll be wanting a hide on both the warm and cold sides of the viv, other than that it looks like a happy garter home.
I am also new to the forum and very glad to find a reliable place for information....I have bearded dragons and I have become more interested in snakes. I have never thought of them as a pet until now because I see them in the wild frequently....I am looking for something small and fairly docile that is a goood snake for a beginner.....I have always been fascinated with garters but everyone keeps trying to talk me into buying a ball or a corn snake....I then just stop talking to them cause it is usually an upsell attempt to sell me a snake that is not even that easy to take care of and not good for a beginner....someone I semi-trust recomment a Kenyan Sand Boa over a garter for my situation....Are they both good beginner snakes? Which type of garter is an easier pet to take care of eastern or plains?
i apologize for the questions this just looks like the best place to ask
thank you

Please make an introductory post in the welcome lounge.
Eastern and Plains are both great snakes.. There is a lot of variety colour wise with either of them.
