So, we defintitely have a gravid female in the house.
We got the news yesterday that Char is carrying a baby boy! :) It's been a tense 19 weeks waiting for test results back, because we know I have a genetic issue in the family, but the test results we got yesterday show that the baby has inheritted my good chromosomes and the good ones from his mother.
So far we've had five scans and each one looked good, but we've had to wait until this test result to break the news widely - although anyone that's seen Char for the last 5-6 weeks will have known because it's been pretty obvious.
So, not the sort of gravid female you would have thought from the title. :)

Yes. I'm finding this all very stressful.

We have recieved our first baby gifts and today baby's quilt for his cot arrived. Patchwork with toy soldiers, trains and other cute stuff on it. When he arrives on our around the 27th of August we've decided to call him Joseph James Thomas Dibben.

I wanted to point out that the pregnancy is the main reason I fell off the radar for a while. It's difficult to talk to people and not tell them something this big. That and the fact that we've had a very stressful time so far and I've been quite unwell. Rest assured this boy will be handling before he's walking!

Would you like me to fly my son over there and have him stay with you for a few nights so that you can get a little preview? :D

We bought diapers and formula when I was still pregnant. Then started on cereal and baby food! My twin boys will be 13 on April 18th! It seems I need to start stock piling food again!
Anyway, let me add my congratulations. I was very happy to have boys. I don't like makeup, frilly dresses, hair bows. I'm content with my snakes and blue jeans!

I agree with the whole boy thing...I like baseball and playing with cars and getting dirty! I just can't see myself sitting at ballet recitals and playing with dolls. I played baseball and built forts when I was little. I love having a boy!
Btw...I saw my son in his first dress suit yesterday. He is going to his uncle's wedding on Sunday. He looked so grown up and handsome that I almost did that mom thing and started crying...almost! I will post pics after the wedding.

I prefer girls, I'm a real tomboy at heart but I feel like it'd be easier buying girl stuff, because I already do that ;)

Hey now! As a kid I loved to get dirty, play with cars, catch bugs/frogs/snakes all sorts of 'boy stuff' My mom COULD NOT get me to play with dolls let alone get me to wear a dress! I even cried one birthday when she bought me a baby.. doll.. thing.. a ma gig... IT WAS PINK!! I liked green things, slimy things, scaly n typically 'gross' things!

Wait... that's STILL me  :D

I think we'll wait until Sept and then gradually build up to a son the age of yours. :)

I had wanted a girl because every child I see regularly is a girl, it feels like I know more about them than little boys. However, I've now realised that the Scalectrix, lightsabres, and Lego can be justified far more easily. And my Nerf guns will be cool vintage toys by the time Joseph is old enough to play with them. Although on three Lego front, can I really justify the three foot Lego Star Destroyer (to go with the small, 10 inch model I already have) when I'd build it and spend the next five years saying "Leave it. It's not a toy."?

My mom bought a ton of boy toys for me once I was older than 6 because I'd complain that I hated my pink room, pink bed, pink doll house, pink piano, pink guitar and 20 pink haired dolls. My dad was rich, so I had a ton of instruments and toys.. but I always just wanted one of them out of the group that I got. I still can't understand why a kid would want so much stuff.
I love nerf guns, and legos... Dang, I wish mine didn't go in the trash now... Haha. I don't like getting muddy, though... And I'm kind of like a 60 year old, my back is bad so rough housing is a bit out of the question for 3+ year old kids... hah.

Nearly 24 weeks now.
This week has been grim, Char's had a cold since Monday, I caught it a couple of days later. If you think a cold is bad it's worse when you are pregnant. We're both pulling through now though.

Glad you are both getting past the cold. I know it's scary to be sick when you are pregnant. Thanks for sharing the pic of the ultrasound. I still have Julian's ultrasound pics just like that. Funny, Julian looks exactly like your little guy in that pic! :D;)
