There's a first for everything right?
Right now I'm frantically trying to hunt her down from what it looks to be an escape. I had changed out her water this morning and more than likely didn't get the lid closed all the way and she slipped out. And now she is missing so I'm not sure exactly what to do.
I put her hide and a thing of water on the ground along the wall hoping she'll show up while I'm at work and I'm trying not to freak out at this time and tear everything out, its only been a couple of hours so I know she probably is hiding somewhere. And the bad thing is that I have work and won't be able to continue the hunt. I set out a worm in hopes of getting her to eat since she really hasn't eaten all week so I know she should be hungry at this point.

Along walls and under things near there is a good place to start.
Leave out something as a hide while you're at work.
Keep us posted on the MIA.
Recheck the enclosure. I've paniced for nothing on a number of occasions. ;):D

I get the hide set up as well as Marley's light rigged up behind the desk where her tank is before I so hopefully she either comes out or at least stays in my room which I baracaded close to prevemt the cats from finding her.

Hopefully you'll find her.
Don't be surprised if she's at te other of of your house. My ribbon got out once and he was in the garage when he escaped and then we found him near the back door

Yeah I didn't really want to be the one to say this but it kind of needs to be said, there's a good chance that you won't find the snake no matter how hard you look. Snakes are masters of hiding, you could be right near your escaped snake right now and not even know it.... or it could already be outside and gone forever. And with you having to go to work it gives the snake a lot more time to get to somewhere different, I've had a decent number of snakes get loose over the years for a variety of reasons, some were never found. I had a 5 foot california king female make it out of her cage, down 2 flights of stairs, and disappear for good.. it's been 4 years, where do you think she is by now?
I had an adult female eastern king, probably 3 feet long, make it down the same steps, and was caught going down the steps to my backyard. How she ever made it passed the 4 people living in the house I'll never know...
I had a gravid pueblan milk snake female get loose, only to be found in the basement where I had to play tug of war with her under a refrigerator for 10 minutes but I did get her back in time for me to successfully hatch those eggs in her.
Then there was an adult male eastern milk snake that got loose and stayed in the snake room, I tore the room apart looking for him the day he escaped, nothing. Then when feeding snakes a week later he was in there crawling around.
When a snake gets loose I write it off, because honestly to find it is gonna take luck, I not once ever found an escapee while I was looking for it, they just popped up.
Good luck.

I must say that I have found a number of snakes that have escaped.
A grey banded king showed up 6 months later and a number of garters have been found.
Don't give up hope but also be grounded in the fact you might not find her. ;)

Ashley found her little northwestern after almost a week of him being gone. I thought for sure she wouldn't find him, but he surprised us all. I say never give up hope. Try putting a heap of warm towels down near where the snake escaped. I heard that snakes will often go to the warm heap and burrow.

Who hoo! Marley's been found! No more slightly freaking out anymore.
Was checking behind some canvases and saw her kink tail disappear behind a stack of notebooks and I was able to catch the little Houdini from behind there.
I think I already figured out how she escaped in the first place. When I was changing out the water I didn't get the lid closed all the way and part of one of the branches caught in the grove and allowed enough space for her to get out. Some shifting branches around should take care of that when I clean her cage in the morning. RIght now she just has little plants and her hide at the moment.
So whats the equilaient of a snake being grounded for giving her Momma such a scare.
And she was found behind the desk, which was where her tank was so I got lucky.

Glad to read of the find! I've always had luck with my escapies, you learn from your mistakes. 1 way that is possible this time of year if you have male and female same sps. is to lay a female shed down and if its a male that has escaped it will be waiting there the next morning!

Good news! See, this is why I say never give up hope! Now...you must, must, must make sure that lid is secure so that she doesn't get out again. :)
