I'm getting worried. Cotton hasn't eaten in a month and Toothless about 2 weeks. I more concerned about Cotton. She seems to be losing weight, and her activity had decreased. She is drinking and tongue flicking. We've tried pinkies, salmon, worms, and live platy. We've tried dangling, tapping her nose, harassment, and just leaving it in there. She hasn't seemed to show any interest. Thoughts...

Hmmm...all I can tell you is that both Seeley and Cee Cee have both done this from time to time. Cee Cee has gone a month and Seeley has gone two months. Although, it was during the cold weather months when they did this, so I attributed it to the winter and the instinct to stop eating in the cold months. There was really nothing I could do other than to continue to offer food until they started eating again. I got so worried about Seeley, I took him to the vet...because he lost a substantial amount of weight...but the vet said it was just the instinct to slow down in the winter. I was able to get Seeley to start eating again using Wayne's garter goulash recipe. Reptamin sticks seem to be the trick to get my snakes to eat when they won't eat. If you don't know what they are...they are turtle food and Wayne says they are safe for garters. I chop up some pinkies and some fish and mix them up into a mush, then I chop up a few Reptamin sticks into a powder and mix that into the mush...you can add worms too if you like. The snakes seem to really like the flavor of the reptamin sticks. It works with my babies too. The reptamin has vitamins and calcium in it that is good for them when they aren't eating too.

All garters should be given a "winter break" no matter what...its what garters do, period!

My George also did that to me, also lost weight, showed no interest in food what so ever. Increase the temps up some n see what happens. George still don't eat much though.
