Well, I finally decided that I would get my boy some company in his 5ft X 2ft X 2ft cage and off I went today to find him a friend. I went to the spot I found my original snake it, and where I've found dozens of garters. Right along a nice drainage/creek type deal. Flipped wood and stones watched the walkway frequently, found 1 young garter the entire time.. K so I'm assuming the construction last year scared them off. Where would be a good place to look for to find another garter? I'm kinda puzzled now on where to go. Any help is appreciated.

I guess you need to find a similar locale (drainage/creek) which hasn't been recently disturbed by construction work.

omg stands for "oh my god" and "zor" (sometimes -orz, or -zorz) is just there to "enhance" it (roxorz, for example means that something rocks very very much).

In short: he's excited and wants to find snakes, very very much. :D To be honest, I'd only use that kind of language while mocking people that use it frequently. ;)

Thankyou for enlightening me, Stefan. As you already know I'm a bit out of touch with the whole text/chat abbreviation thing. Must be my age!

Yeah, I feel I'm too old for that particular style. :D But some of the abbreviations are pretty handy at times.

;*) I am a gamer, and a top gamer on command and conquer 3 (I'm top 500, probably 50). Anyways I just went back and I found a few.
Found 2 babys, 1 got away, 1 I let get away, not really wanting a baby unless its super nifty colored. ;*) Saw one just like mine except a foot shorter on the side of the path, could have caught it, curled up and striked at me for awhile while i examined it. Last one was brownish with red hints, I saw this snake and went after it instantly, however it was half sticking out a hole, at the sight of me it quickly went back down. I dug furiously after the said snake but was only created with spiders, centapedes, worms, and an unually large orange cricket. Was dirt on top of a bunch of branches so who knows where it went!

Also so a shed skin in a rodent hole, big shed skin looking female but I'm no expert. Couldn't find said snake. ;*(

I shall go out earlier tommorow, maybe I will find one in the morning as it suns itself.

It has been hot and dry here. I have walked around a mitigation of quite a few acres, and have not seen one snake. Of course there are no logs or stones to flip... just have to encounter one on the move.

Interestingly enough, I also have seen very few frogs along the mitigation pond, where they are sometimes quite common.

I have drop boards across the back of my property and there isn't any activity there either.:(

No scorching heat right now so I'm going to go look again today see if my luck has turned. Persistance and luck shall bring me a snake ;*).

Hot and dry here too. Most of my snakes have gone underground. Was brush hogging the neighbors hay fields today (a pain, the grass flowers kept clogging the radiator, and I had to stop to clean it multiple times) watching for snakes, flushed a hen mallard (must have made her nest in the middle of the field), and a week old fawn jumped up 2 feet in front of the tractor (never saw it, and I was looking cus the doe had been hanging around), a few toads, lots of deer mice, two cottontail rabbits and only one snake, a large common eastern (too fast for me). Everyone made it out alive!:D

FFS I only found 2 babies today. I really need to get out earlier before the hot sun burns them underground. I know that the fence lizards not too far from my house are out in the morning, but later in the day (times when I look for snakes) they are gone. Hopefully I can catch them as they are comming out to sun themselves after a chilly night.

Lee, FFS? I'm sure I'm not the only one here who doesn't understand the abbreviations. It's difficult to respond when I don't know what you're saying.

If it means what I think it might mean...It might be best omitted!

Bet ommitted. :*) lol sorry I'm so used to typing these things. Out of all the forums I visit, 80% are gamer forums. After the latest patch is released for cnc3 I'll move that up to 95% and it will be worse. but hey, I'll get prizes for winning games so its ok !
