HiI'm Sarah, mum to three children (a nearly 18yr old son, and two daughters aged 15 and 5), two dogs, four cats, a rabbit, two hamsters, a beardie and five/six corn snakes. One is currently on the missing list (courtesy of friend of eldest daughter) but still hoping. I am going to (well, trying to) start being mummy to garters too. Just dropped by to say hello :)x

Sounds like you've got a full crew there.
Nice to have you on the forum.
Here's a link to the care sheet.
What species of garter do you have?

I don't have any yet but am looking to get a couple of San Francisco's to start with. Just having a little trouble locating any in the UK that are not inbred, have been sourced from reputable and decent outlets and are young as prefer hatchlings or yearlings at the most. Also interested in Albino Checkered too.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding a Checkered (T.marcianus)

Albino checkereds aren't too tough to find, although I don't think there's any around right now.
San Frans, you're right, it's all about finding them from a source that you can be comfortable that they haven't been in-bred, and if you want a pair to potential breed from that means finding them from two breeders. There's a few breeders in the UK, and several more in Holland. Ironically, it may be easier to find a San Francisco during the breeding season than it is to find many other species.
