It's like an awkward start to garter snake kindergarten....LoL. I feel ridiculous because I could not figure out why my threads weren't going up so I messaged the admins in the contact us feature to ask them why they weren't being put up. Then I saw my threads and was like "Oops...." :p
The thing about joining something like this is that often times when you start posting in a forum, you don't realize that the forum is very old with long standing members that will either embrace you and converse, or shun you and never lend you their much needed advice. SO, that kind of makes things much more intimidating than they should be. It's an internet forum for Garter snakes..Not a hybrid super clique that nobody's allowed into, but honestly I've been to forums like that so I'm hoping to meet lots of new, intellectual friends/aquaintances here who can help me in my personal quest to give my garter the life he deserves. This site is really cool and I'm glad to have found it.

Welcome aboard the forum, I think you'll find all the advice you want/need here. If you like garters you'll fit in here.

Hi...I'm Marnie and I am also a garter-aholic. I can't claim soberity at this point...I have a new snake coming soon. But I can stop anytime I want. I don't think you will run into people shunning you and acting "cliquey", for lack of a better term, on this forum. We are all here to help and I have made a lot of wonderful friends here. Like I always say...this is my garter family. No questions are stupid and we welcome new members. Welcome and we look forward to getting to know you!

YAY!!!!!!!!Thanks everyone! You are all very helpful/wise/nice. All goods things when seeking friends and advice. It's nice being in a place where others understand my facination with snakes rather than treat me as if I have venerial deseases because I like an animal that doesn't happen to have lots of fluffy bits. LOL> :) Nice to meet you all. My name is Alicia, I'm 22 from Grand Rapids , MI, and my first love was an Eastern Garter name Alice and he stole my heart. I've loved snakes every since, but the garter holds my attention because they are so very attractive and if they bite me during handling I wont get necrosis! YAY!

Well if you love easterns then you and I have something in common...I have a female eastern and a male eastern...my first snakes and they also made me fall in love with garters....hence the name, easterngirl. I love many kinds of garters and I also have an albino checkered and I have an albino snow plains arriving soon, but easterns will always be my favorites.

Yes...looking forward to seeing pics of your snake!

I'd say you're nice and helpful ;) I don't know you all that well so I can't really completely say with complete honesty that you are wise!

I am, of course, joking ;) :D

Hello and Welcome to the 'Tham-ily".
I'm in Michigan also, and have 4 local snakes (Eastern and Butlers) and one albino checkered garter.

This is one of the friendliest and most open forums I've found- little or none of the clique-ishness that you encounter in so many places on the iternet. Older members go thru quiet periods (Life is busy.) but everyone here is very accomodating of new people asking old questions in new ways.

Howdy from the Hoosier state! I grew up in MI and my brothers/dad still live there. In fact, one lives in GR. His wife was a little amused when I told her I paid money for my garters! Apparently, my nephews like to catch and play with them. Living in the burbs of Indianapolis, having dogs in my yard, working two jobs, they all conspire against me finding wild herps!

TODAY'S SCOUSE FACTOID

During the Second World War, the critical strategic importance of Liverpool was recognised by both Hitler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler) and Churchill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winston_Churchill), with the city suffering a blitz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liverpool_Blitz) second only to London's,[17] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liverpool#cite_note-16) and the pivotal Battle of the Atlantic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Atlantic_(1939–1945)) being planned, fought and won from Liverpool.[18] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liverpool#cite_note-17)
